It’s been almost 40 years since OSHA’s Crane Rules, 29 CFR 1926.550, have undergone a revision. In 2004, the Crane and Derrick Advisory Committee (C-DAC), comprised of manufacturers, operators, and other stakeholders, submitted proposed rule changes, and in 2008, OSHA published the proposed rules. This presentation provides a comparison of the old rules and the proposed rule, highlights areas of change, and offers recommendations for future compliance needs.
